Yoga Nidra & Relaxation
Yoga Nidra guided meditation
Before you start
All you have to do is find a quiet, warm space, your headphones and one or two blankets to cover your body.
Be sure you are nice and warm, as the body will find it harder to relax completely when chilled. Your head and neck must be fully supported on a low cushion or a folded blanket under the neck/head if you choose to lie down. If you are sitting, a travelling pillow is helpful.
Preferably, the legs should be slightly elevated by placing a low cushion, blanket or pillow under your knees.
Both feet should be elevated on a cushion or folded blanket.
If you can, cover your eyes with an eye cushion; if you don’t have one, a piece of cloth will do. Covering your eyes encourages the parasympathetic nervous system to switch on. The parasympathetic nervous system is the part of the autonomic nervous system responsible for sleep, rest and relaxation.
Purposely put aside anything that you feel you have to do for 15 minutes, tell yourself this is your own time and space.
Enjoy your rest…
